I have been playing drums for 18 years, and have taught for over a decade. I am a professionally working musician in the New York City area, playing and collaborating with ensembles, shows and musicals, and I have toured nationally with a band. My specialties include drum set, hand drums, composition, recording and mixing techniques.
I have taught drums and developed curricula for a number of music organizations such as Rhythm Kids, where I taught lessons, workshops and clinics for students of all ages in small and large groups. I have also led drumming instruction programs for multiple summer camps, and developed a private lesson practice. I am especially good at maintaining lasting and meaningful connections with the students and their families. While the majority of my students have been children of all ages (I have a Masters in Education), I also have experiencing teaching adults. I have found a deep satisfaction in teaching the art of drumming, both with the fundamentals and for advanced techniques, such as syncopation and independence, rhythmic feel, approach to time, accentuation and musicality. I enjoy these studies immensely as I find them endlessly fascinating, and it is this excitement that in turn inspires my students and encourages their creativity. I believe my greatest strength lies in my ability to inspire students, enabling them to discover what they are capable while finding their own voice.
