Jessica H. is a former world-class ice dancer turned pianist. Having completed her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance at NYU Steinhardt in May 2012, her recent graduate solo piano recital featured music by Russian composers, including works of Prokofiev and Scriabin, as well as compositions by Beethoven and Liszt. In addition to her solo piano studies with Jose Ramon Mendez and Matti Raekallio, she also enjoys teaching piano and is a piano instructor at the Hoboken School of Music, and was an adjunct piano instructor at NYU.
Jessica and her ice dance partner competed internationally from 1999-2004, winning six Finnish National Ice Dance titles and competing in a dozen countries across four continents. Their best placements included 18th at the European Championships and 21st at the World Championships. Jessica completed her undergraduate education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, majoring in Brain and Cognitive Sciences, and then moved to Manhattan to work in consulting.
Jessica currently skates as a principal skater with the Ice Theatre of New York, performing at venues including Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park, Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers, Riverbank State Park, and World Ice Arena. She also teaches figure skating at Bryant Park, City Ice Pavilion, and World Ice Arena, and is the team coach for the NYU Figure Skating Team.
